I’m in a startup, now what?
I got a simple email question the other day.
“Great to have met you last night. Have any advice for someone like me who just joined a startup?”
My stream of consciousness response
“Interesting question.
Be a killer in your role. Find ways to do more. Ignore your title or specific role and help solve the company’s key challenges. The thing is, in a startup in particular, everyone’s job is to go looking for trouble. Go find important things that need to get done. Find the creative ways to move things forward 10x faster. Ask forgiveness, not permission. Be smart, run linke hell.
Not sure that’s what you were looking for but it’s what came to mind.”
So if you’re in a startup or any small company, go looking for trouble.
Be a hooligan to every problem.
Kick it’s ass and leave it the gutter.
